Mary L. Waggoner's Obituary
Mary L. Waggoner, 78, of Neodesha, KS, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at her home. Mary was born on January 30, 1947, in Neodesha, KS the daughter of Cecil and Bessie Louise (Harshman) Belcher.
After graduating from Neodesha high school, Mary got married on Valentines Day 1966, in Miami, OK to Fred Waggoner, who affectionately became known as “Fat Poppy”. Mary and Fred were married for 26 years until his death on November 20, 1992. Mary loved to sew and began her career working for Cobalt boats as a seamstress. During a down time, Mary returned to school and received her degree as an LPN. Her love for sewing caused her to return to Cobalt, where she retired after 35 years of service.
Mary loved to be active with her family and friends, she enjoyed going with them out to eat, playing Bingo, and going to casinos. When not sewing at work, she would sew at home. She also loved to read romance novels, and listen to, or watch movies starring Elvis. Mary was also busy with the VFW Auxiliary, and loved spending time with her best friend, the late Sheryl Bly. Mary always stated her greatest life legacy was her family and friends.

Nine Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Nephew Bill Belcher of Neodesha
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, brother Bill Belcher, stepfather Loren Riley and grandchildren Zackery Wade and Misti Underwood.
Funeral services are planned for Friday, May 9, 2025, at 10:30 am at the Christ Church of Neodesha. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 5-7 pm at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia. Memorials have been suggested to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
