Mary Jane Ward's Obituary
Mary Jane Ward age 97, of Chanute, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Chanute, KS. Mary Jane was born December 21, 1916 in Chanute, KS the daughter of Ralph R. and Flossie H. (Locke) McMinimy.
She attended high school at Chanute High School and graduated with the class of 1934.
Mary Jane married A. Clayton Ward on June 2, 1937. She loved her family and was an active prayer warrior for them until her death. She was a great homemaker and passed her baking skills on to her descendants. She was active in the Gideon Auxiliary. She taught Sunday school for many years at the First Christian Church. Mary Jane was a member of Westview Southern Baptist Church of Chanute.
Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Mary Sue Carlson and husband David of Chanute, KS; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Clayton Ward, sons; Robert J. Ward and Dale R. Ward, parents Ralph and Flossie McMinimy, and brother, Dick McMinimy.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 4, 2014 from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. at Westview Southern Baptist Church in Chanute, KS. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation. A private family Interment will be at Vilas/Bethel Cemetery in Chanute, KS.
Family requests memorials be left in memory of Mary Jane to Gideons and/or Forever Friends Children Ministry at Westview Southern Baptist Church, and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
