Maurice "Bob" Kent Mustoe's Obituary
Maurice (Bob) was born on December 29, 1929, in Wichita Kansas. His parents were Laura (Edwards) and Carl Glenys Mustoe.
He moved to the farm south of Longton as a youth. Following the death of his father, he lived with his Mother in Chicago for a couple of years, before returning to Longton for his Senior year in High School. Following graduation from LHS in 1948, he was married to Bonnie (Truitt) in August of 1948. Three children were born to this union, Cathy, Karen & Mark. During the years of his family growing up on the farm, Bob worked for DeCoursey’s, Foremost, and the Union Gas System, in addition to raising cattle.
He served on the School Board for the Longton School District for many years, and was actively involved in the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star, along with other community activities. He was very involved with his family with their 4-H, school, sports, Church and other community activities. He loved his family unconditionally, and he was always a “daddy who was there!”
Once the children had graduated from their prospective colleges and had established their lives in other parts of the country, in 1986, Bob and Bonnie decided to move to Escondido, CA. They spent the next 30 years, or so, enjoying their lives, living close to their daughter & son-in-law, Cathy & Harvey Mitchell. Bob worked for the Lawrence Welk Company, and as a Bank Courier, before his retirement. They were actively involved with the Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido, where they have many friends. There also were many family reunions, during those years.
He lived an honorable life, had many friends, and was greatly loved by his family. He was a good man.
Preceding Bob in death were his parents and his sister, Juanita Mustoe Sullivan. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Bonnie, include Cathy (Harvey) Mitchell, of Valley Center, CA., Karen (Gary) Crosslin of New Douglas, IL., and Mark (Kathy) Mustoe, of Leawood, KS.
