Max Leroy Kniffen's Obituary
Max L. Kniffen, age 77, a resident of Howard, Kansas passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Sedan City Hospital. He was born on July 22, 1933 in Elk City, Kansas the son of James L. and Edna Pearl (Bingley) Kniffen. Max was a graduate of Elk City High School.
He was an electrician. Max also worked for J & S Scale in Hutchinson, Kansas as a scale technician installing and calibrating scales for grain elevators. He was an avid fisherman and he loved his chihuahua “Sugarâ€.
He is survived by his daughter Ileane Cook of Kearney, Nebraska, two sons Michael Kniffen of Pineville, Missouri and Max Kniffen of Olathe, Kansas, niece Diane Swanson and numerous grandchildren. Max was preceded in death by his parents, longtime companion Lori Nichols, one infant sister Thelma Kniffen and two brothers Ivan and Merle.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Independent Baptist Church in Howard, Kansas. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Elk City, Kansas at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Howard Senior Citizen Center and may be left with the funeral home.
