Maxine R. Ellison's Obituary
Maxine Rose Marr Ellison, 91, of Huntington Beach, CA, passed away peacefully in Newport Beach, CA of heart failure on April 2, 2012. Maxine was hardly ever in the hospital and a picture of health until her last few days. She was born to Victor Earl Marr and Ethyl Gross Marr on March 13, 1921 in Coyville, KS. She was preceded in death by her siblings Vesta Fitzmorris, Earl Marr, Bill Marr, and Harley Marr.
Maxine was valedictorian of Coyville High School and attended Pittsburg State. She taught school in Toronto coached girls basketball, and played piano at the Coyville Methodist Church.
Maxine met W. Frank Ellison, Jr. of Dallas, TX, and were wed in Coyville on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1946. They had two sons, W. Frank Ellison III (Trip) and Kirk Brian Ellison. Kirk moved in with his mother soon after Frank died in June 2008 while on vacation in Coyville.
Maxine is survived by Trip and Ann Ellison of Houston, TX. They have three children; Warner (daughter-in-law Jessica), Taylor (daughter-in-law Andrea), and Peyton.
Maxine and Frank moved to Huntington Beach, CA in 1965. She was very active and enjoyed tennis, walking around the island, involved in her sons activities, bridge, hosted multiple family relation vacations, and shopping Newport's Fashion Island.
Maxine was loved by all and never met a stranger. She loved going for drives along Pacific Coast Hwy., admiring the ocean and sunsets over Catalina Island, doggie beach, surfers, and kite surfers.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 P.M. Friday, April 6, 2012 at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia. Graveside Services will be held Saturday April 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Coyville Cemetery with Rev. Gene Benefiel officiating.
