Melissa Sue Hardin's Obituary
Melissa Sue Hardin, 51, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Melissa was born on May 18, 1964 in Chanute, KS the daughter of Arthur and Joan (Metzen) Ogle.
Melissa graduated from Altoona-Midway High School in 1982. She went on to Cosmetology School at Pittsburg State University and graduated in 1983. Melissa was joined in marriage on April 20, 1985 to Brian Hardin.
Melissa loved dogs and taking care of them. Her love for pets led her to open her dog sitting business No Place Like Home Pet Sitting. After her business grew, she decided to open No Place Like Home Pet Grooming which she operated for 18 years. She loved her job and all of the dogs that she took care of. Melissa said that she was truly blessed by her customers and how her customers understood her health circumstances. Melissa enjoyed traveling with her family and spending time with them. She loved her nieces and nephews and her dogs. Melissa was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chanute and a member of the Boomer Link Bible Study.
Melissa was preceded in death by her mother.
She is survived by her husband, two dogs, Chloe and Ellie, her father and step-mother, Arthur and Lucille Ogle, three brothers and one sister: Michael Ogle and wife Stephanie of Skiatook, OK; Jamie Ogle and wife Nancy of Sand Springs, OK; Alex Ogle and wife Sheena of Chattanooga, TN; Jodi Hanson and husband Richard of Yukon, OK; many nieces and nephews including: Loren, Darby and Baylee Dillman and Kyler and Mason Manbeck; and many close friends including: David and Ruthie Stacy and Max and Carol Rickerson. She was a godmother to Loren, Darby, and Baylee Dillman. She loved niece Stacy Manbeck and nephew Brett Dillman like a brother and a sister.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Chanute. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
