Melvin LeRoy Miller's Obituary
Melvin LeRoy Miller, age 91, of Moline, Kansas passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Sedan, Kansas. He was born on December 25, 1921 in Elk County, Kansas the son of John William “J.W.” and Marie Mae (Davis) Miller.
Melvin served his county during World War II in the United States Army Air Corp. He worked as a trackman for Santa Fe Railroad. On September 27, 1943 Melvin was united in marriage to Juanita Maxine Estep in Columbus, Kansas. He was baptized and became a member of the Moline First Baptist Church on December 9, 1934 where he is still an honorary Deacon. Melvin was also a member of the American Legion and he enjoyed gardening, mowing, being outdoors walking and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Juanita Miller of Moline, Kansas, one son Greg Miller and his wife Sandy of Fredonia, Kansas, one daughter Aundrea “Andi” Hebb and her husband John of Moline, Kansas, 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters; Olive Bryan, Mina Workman, Esther Thayer, Fern Adkins and Lola Foust, three brothers; Bill, John and Erwin and two in infancy.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Moline First Baptist Church. Viewing will be held Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Moline Cemetery. Family suggests contributions be made to the Moline First Baptist Church or the American Legion Ferguson Spease Post #388 and may be left with the funeral home.
