Merrill B. Brock's Obituary
Merrill B. Brock, age 84, of Yates Center, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 in Chanute, Kansas. Merrill was born on November 25, 1931 at the Brock Family Farm, the son of Lawrence David and Charlotte Ann Beeman Brock. On December 23, 1955 he was united in marriage to Nancy Lee Coonrod. Merrill and Nancy lived in Chanute until 1985 when they returned to live on the Brock Farm.
After graduation from Buffalo High School in 1949, Merrill served as a corporal in the army. After his discharge, he began his career as a carpenter, helping to build and remodel many homes in the area.
As a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Merrill served as deacon, elder and moderator of Corporate Affairs. He also belonged to Mariners, Do-Si-D0 Square Dance Club and CARSP. When his children were in 4-H he was a project leader and club leader for the Up and Atom 4-H Club and served on the 4-H Extension Council and Neosho County Fair Board.
Merrill will be remembered for his humble spirit, his excellent carpentry skills, his many years of service to his church, and most of all his love of family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

Merrill was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Ann Brock Christian.
Funeral Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Chanute on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home - Gibson Chapel at 16 N.
