Michael Dee Meyer's Obituary
Michael Dee “Mike” Meyer, age 63, a resident of Howard, Kansas passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 11, 1950 in El Dorado, Kansas the son of Harry Deroy and Helen Marie (Thomas) Meyer.
From January 1970 to September 1971, Mike served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On May 31, 1975 Mike was united in marriage to Belinda Kay White in Towanda, Kansas. For many years he farmed and raised cattle, Mike also managed the Coop and the Alfalfa Mill in Longton and he worked as a game preserve technician for Flint Oak. Mike enjoyed fishing and hunting coyotes.
Mike is survived by his wife Belinda Meyer of Howard, Kansas, one daughter Tana Harrod and her husband Steve of Piedmont, Kansas, three sons; Heath Meyer and his wife Steph of Alton, Kansas, Hadley Meyer of Beloit, Kansas and Hobe Meyer of Meridian, Mississippi, two brothers; Chuck Meyer and his wife Carol of Augusta, Kansas and Joe Meyer of El Dorado, Kansas, one sister Beverly Dowers of Rose Hill, Kansas, seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Steven and James.
Per Mike’s request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Countryside – Zimmerman Funeral Home with Pastor Robin Haines officiating. Family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Hospice and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.
