Remember the good ole days. There are allot of awesome memories. R.I.P.
Mike was one of a kind. I met Mike at church and joined a Bible study group with him and several others. Mike loved to come by in his convertible and pick me to to go for a "little ride"...those little rides would end up at lakes all around this area. One of my funniest memories of one of those rides is we were heading to a lake South and West of Chanute. He of course took back roads. Top down , dust blowing every where. He got to where he just knew we should turn. We kept driving and turning. Eventually I told him... Umm...Mike I've seen that same house and dog 3 times now. He just looked at me and grinned...Oh really? Well I guess I missed the road ! He said. We went down to the next corner and I suggested we take a left . Off we went. Sure enough, about a mile down the road was the lake he'd been looking for ! I just giggled. All he could say was... ok smarty pants ! Lol ! He was such a good friend to me. I no longer drive. So when it was nice he'd often call for one of his famous "little rides" He always made me laugh and smile. Lots of talking about the Bible, his car collection , his beloved Diane or what Marty, his little dog had been up to . The last time I saw Mike was in Nov. 2019. He'd called and said he'd be out in front of my house in about 5 minutes. I met him at the curb. He had that big ole smile on his face. He said he had something for me. He handed me a beautiful turquoise Bible. "I knew it belonged to you. It's your favorite color !" I teared up. Thanked him, gave him a hug. Then he looked at his watch and said I guess I'd better get going I'm picking up a friend from work to take him home . That was Mike ! Helping and encouraging others and making sure we laughed along the way . I'm really going to miss you sweet friend. Rest easy now. See you when I get there !! Love and hugs, Kristy
