Michael Dean Serpan's Obituary
Michael Dean Serpan, age 74 of Chanute, KS, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Diversicare of Chanute. He was born on June 22, 1944 to Marvin and Bonnie (Talbot) Serpan in Wichita, KS. He married Delores (Barker) on July 30, 1965 in Chanute. Michael worked at various places such as the Overall Factory, ILC, and Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. In 1968 he started employment for the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) in Chanute, KS. In 1977, he transferred to KDOT in Wichita, KS, where he retired after 30 years of service as a heavy equipment operator.
Michael enjoyed bowling and actually met his wife, Delores in a bowling league. He enjoyed camping, fishing, singing, dancing and spending time with his family. He loved doing jig saw puzzles, and attending sport activities of his children/grandchildren. He loved to go to church and was a member of the Chanute Church Of God In Christ. Michael was a very social person and had a great sense of humor. He loved being active and serving as a Resident Council President at Diversicare.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Delores; brothers, Phillip and Leslie.
Cremation has been requested. A memorial service will be on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Chanute. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family suggests memorials to be made to the Chanute Church Of God In Christ and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 16 N. Forest, Chanute, KS 66720.
