Mildred Virginia Millis' Obituary
Mildred “Virginia” Millis, 92, of Neodesha, KS passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the Wilson County Medical Center in Neodesha. Virgina was born on June 19, 1931, to James Blaine and Myrtle (Hobbs) Duft and was one of 9 children.
In 1949, she married Eugene Evan Millis. Virginia tended to the family and the home while their children were still young. She then took a job at a clothing factory before moving on to ACC in Independence, where she worked for more than 20 years before her retirement. She and Gene were married for 63 years until his death in 2012.
Affectionately known as “Grammy” to most and “Babe” to few, Virginia enjoyed camping and fishing with family during the summer months, planning numerous cookouts throughout the year and country dancing with Eugen on the weekends. Known for her vibrant red hair and spunky personality, she was the life of any party and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved her pets and often had them in tow wherever she went.
She is survived by her son Timothy Millis (Debra) of Neodesha, KS, brother Donnie Duft of Alexandria, Virginia, 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, 7 siblings, husband, Gene, and four of her children: Jerry Millis, Karen Murray, Debbie Hughes, and Larry “Spike” Millis.
Cremation has been requested. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Lord’s Chapel Church in Neodesha, KS at 11:00 AM. Memorials in her memory have been suggested to the Fredonia Pound Pals and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
