Mona May Stalnaker's Obituary
Mona May Stalnaker passed on good Friday, April 3, 2026, with family and loving care of Morningstar Care Home Fredonia Kansas. She was born in rural Otoe County, NE on April 16, 1934, to Charles H. Clark and Dorothy (Gess) Clark. Siblings were Sterling H. Clark, Barbara B. (Clark) Haynes and Linda (Suz)(Clark) Yank.
She writes, I attended rural Otoe County Schools through the 8 th grade graduating from Dunbar High School, Dunbar, NE in 1951. My first job was working for the Nebraska Roads Dept. in the Nebraska State Capital. In 1954 I was married to Earl R. Stalnaker at the Presbyterian church in Dunbar, NE on April 11. We lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana near the Lake Charles Air Force Base until 1959. Daughters Kathy Dea and Amy Jo joined our family at that time. Residing in rural Deuel and Garden Counties in NE where Penny Sue and Jill Lou joined our family. Four daughters were the joy of my life, and I could not be prouder of the women they have become.
During their growing up years I participated in some of their activities such as Girl Scouts, Jobs Daughters, United Methodist Church and School special events such as Music, Track and FFA. I enjoyed an Extension Club and Nebraska Cattlemen Aux. I was a member of Eastern Star, Shrine Aux., and Guardian of Jobs Daughters. In the early 90’s as the girls were all in college, I took a job with Cabela’s and moved to Sidney, NE. I retired in 2002 and in 2008 we moved to Fredonia, KS to be near family. Earl passed away in 2009. I resided in a retirement facility, Madison Square, and enjoyed many new friends. A hobby I enjoyed was making greeting cards, reading and games (I was a game show nut!) on the computer. I also loved watching or listening to UNL sports! It is my joy to keep in touch with my family and extended family and rejoice in their lives.
I leave to share my memories Kathy and Mark Pretzer of Beatrice, NE, their son Josh (Amy) Pretzer, sons Raylan and Jack, daughter Gemma (Eric) Haake, their daughter Aspen and son Landen; Amy and Rick Brown of Fredonia, KS, their son Russell and son Hudson, daughter Marley, their daughter Ashlee (Chris) Cochran, their son Carson and expected daughter in June; Penny and Jack Dye of Hermosa, SD; Jill and Dennis Comer of Aurora, NE and their daughters Amber Moore-Osborne (Tyler) son Ashton, Shaunie (Jacob) Gaspari and their son Ronan and daughter Faydra; brother-in-law Dennis Yank of Lincoln, NE.
