Monte Erbe's Obituary
Monte Erbe, 91 of rural Altoona, died Friday, February 15, 2019, at Neodesha Care Center. Monte was born on September 18, 1927 in rural Altoona, the son of Fred and Cora May (Jackson) Erbe.
Monte worked all of his life on his farm. He served in the US National Guard from 1950 to 1961, and was called for active duty for 18 months. Monte was a member of the Twin Rivers Coon Hunters, and the Kansas Horseshoe Pitchers, he loved to coon hunt and fish. He loved to play cards, especially pitch. Monte enjoyed working in his garden and was known for raising a lot of watermelons, tomatoes and red roses. When they could, Monte also enjoyed going out to eat and visiting with friends.
On March 4, 1955 in Independence, KS, Monte married Glenna Marie Carter. Monte and Glenna have been married for 63 years and she survives at her home.

Monte was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers: Victor, Louis and Alfred Erbe and sister Evelyn Morgan.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will be a private family service. Memorials are suggested to the Fredonia Regional Hospital Auxiliary and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
