Nella Ruth Hartley's Obituary
Nella Ruth Hartley, age 79, a resident of Osage City, Kansas passed away Friday, November 14, 2014 at Osage Nursing Care. She was born on July 26, 1935 in Arkansas City the daughter of Brooks Cecil and Sarah Elizabeth (Miller) Bryan. Nella received her bachelor of arts from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.
On September 2, 1956 Nella was united in marriage to J. Herbert Hartley in Howard, Kansas. She worked hard at a variety of jobs: daughter, sister, wife and mother. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Kansas Department of Corrections as a parole officer. Nella was a member of the Buhler United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Order of Eastern Star.
Nella is survived by her husband Herb Hartley of Osage City; sons, Wes (Shari Wit) Hartley of Omaha, Nebraska; and Tom (Geri) Hartley of Ozawkie; daughters, Jane Hartley of New Strawn; Sarah (Doug) Doubek of Topeka; Allyson (Todd) Christman of LeCompton; Blanche (Mitch) Wulfekoetter of Ozawkie; and Maggi (Doug) Martinie of Manhattan; aunts, Elsie (Bryan) Sharp of Sutherland, Oregon; Edna Mae Bryan of Madrid, Iowa; and Margaret Olson of Wichita; brother, Paul (Yvonne) Bryan of Valley Center; 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Linda Yacconi.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Howard United Methodist Church. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Vale Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to either the Osage Nursing Center or the Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research and may be left with the funeral home.
