Nellie R. Claibourn's Obituary
Nellie Rosalie Claibourn, age 90, of Fredonia, passed away on Wednesday, February 01, 2023 at her home. Nellie was born in Fredonia, KS on November 6, 1932 the daughter of Warren W. and Frankie (Parks) Shay.
Nellie was a graduate of Fredonia High School, class of 1949. On September 17, 1950, Nellie married Buddy Dean Claibourn. Nellie and Buddy were married for 56 years until his death in April, 2007.
Nellie was one of the founding members of the Fredonia VFW Auxiliary. Nellie worked at various jobs throughout her life included many years at Kansas Bank Note and her most remembered as a CNA what is now Fredonia Regional Hospital.
Nellie dedicated her life to her family by babysitting many grandchildren and spending time camping and fishing with all of them. She enjoyed growing and tending to her many flower beds and gardening, watching birds, going for long country rides and embroidery. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Linda Crain of Fredonia, KS
Carl Michael Shay and wife Eva of Altoona, KS
19 Grandchildren, 35 Great Grandchildren, 15 Great-Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Great Grandchild.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Buddy, two sons Ricky and Samuel, one daughter Audrie Edgar, and a grandson Jason Dean Claibourn.
Cremation has been requested with a Celebration of Life service being held on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Bible Baptist Church in Fredonia with burial to follow at the Fredonia City Cemetery.
