Nina Faye (Wiltse) Hurford's Obituary
Nina Faye (Wiltse) Hurford, age 71 passed away Feb. 8, 2015 at Diversicare of Chanute; she had been living at the facility for the last several months due to declining health.
Nina was born Feb. 26, 1943 in Chanute, KS; the daughter of George and Iva (Wheeler) Wiltse. She was a lifetime resident of Chanute and attended local schools.
On April 22, 1961 Nina married Jerry D. Patton, the couple later divorced. She then married Ernest C. Hurford on July 5, 1974. Mr. Hurford preceded Nina in death on Nov. 12, 1995. Throughout her life Nina worked at the SEK Tuberculosis Hospital, area nursing homes, Chanute School District and Skyline Motel.
Nina Hurford was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Hurford, husband and daughter: Angela (Patton) Haviland in 2013. She is survived by her son: Mark Patton of Chanute; brother Charles Wiltse and wife Bobbie of Parsons; sisters Carolyn Rose and companion Roger Schuttenhelm of San Tan Valley, AZ; and Betty Urich and husband Skip of Pittsburg, KS. She is also survived by grandchildren: Ari Haviland of Parsons and Chaz Haviland of Mound Valley; son-in-law Kevin Haviland of Parsons; her aunt: Geraldine Bennett of Longmont, CO; as well as many nieces, nephews; and numerous first cousins.
Funeral services for Nina are planned for Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 11:00AM at Countryside Funeral Home- Gibson Chapel 16 N. Forest in Chanute. The family will meet with friends prior to the service from 10:00AM-11:00AM; also at the Gibson Chapel. Nina loved animals and memorials are suggested to Castaways Animal Shelter; they may be sent in care of Countryside Funeral Home 101 N. Highland Chanute, KS 66720.
