Norma Jean Beck's Obituary
Norma Jean Beck, age 89, passed away in Garden Plain, KS on December 27, 2017. She was born to Frank Leeds and Bernice (Allen) Haines on November 1, 1928 in Chanute, KS. Norma graduated from Chanute High School in 1946. She married Benjamin Beck on February 7, 1947 in Chanute, KS. He preceded her in death.
Norma was a homemaker most of her life, but also worked as a bookkeeper for several years at Blanchett Machine Company. She loved to cook, sew, read books, and do crafts. She particularly enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, always writing in pen so she couldn’t erase. Her love of gardening was passed on to her grandkids. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benjamin; brother, Jimmy Haines; and great grandchildren, Cole Mies and Kyle Miller.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. followed immediately by a service at 2:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home – Gibson Chapel at 16 N. Forest in Chanute, KS. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, KS. Memorials have been suggested to Alzheimer’s Association and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
