Norma Lee Venus' Obituary
Norma Lee Venus, age 88, of Temple Terrace, FL, formerly of Chanute, KS, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Tampa, FL. Norma was born on February 21, 1928 in Shaw, KS the daughter of Clark and Marie (Hibbs) Anderson.
On May 22, 1947, Norma married Merle Venus in Chanute, KS. Merle preceded her in death in 1985.
Norma worked for the telephone company in Chanute until 1976 before moving with her husband, Merle, to Tampa, FL. She worked in the insurance business for several years before retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Chanute, KS. Her passion was gardening, writing poetry, painting, reading, and spending time with her grandson, Matthew. Norma was a member of the First Christian Church in Chanute, KS.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merle; brothers, Howard Anderson and James Anderson; and sisters, Audrey Taylor and Kathryn Smith.
Visitation will be held on January 31, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home – Johnson Chapel in Chanute, KS. A service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home – Johnson Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
