Oren Verl "O.V." Barker's Obituary
Oren Verl “O.V,” Barker, age 92 of Thayer, KS, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 29, 2019 in Neodesha, KS. He was born on July 21, 1926 in Chanute, KS, the son of George and Viola (Hoffman) Barker.
O.V. married Beulah Ward on December 24, 1949 in Chanute, KS. He worked as a machinist for Bush Hog and retired in 1991. O.V. served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
O.V. enjoyed being outside and fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed cooking and cracking pecans. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. O.V. was a member of the American Legion Post #170 and the Thayer Methodist Church

O.V. was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
The family will be holding a memorial service on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Thayer Methodist Church in Thayer, KS. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family suggests memorials to be made to Thayer Methodist Church and may be mailed to the church at 203 Okmulgee St., Thayer, KS 66776.
