Orien Walker Tanner's Obituary
Orien Walker Tanner passed away on May 18, 2012 at Via Christi St. Teresa Campus in Wichita. Orien was 98 years of age and a longtime resident of Moline, KS. Orien was born on August 10, 1913 near Leeds, KS in Chautauqua County to Joseph Henry and Bertha Lois (Miller) Hill.
She attended Ebenezer Rural School. She graduated from Moline High School in 1932.
On February 12, 1934, she married Damain Phillip Walker and she lived on the family farm until his death March 7, 1972.
On November 28, 1986, she married Maynard Blair Tanner and moved to his home in Moline. In 2007 they moved to Park West Plaza in Wichita, KS where he passed away on April 24, 2010.
Orien was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Altar Society. She was also a member of the Ladies American Legion. For several years she was a volunteer for the Friendship Meals all in Moline, KS.
She is survived by sons: Bill Walker (Barbara) of Kingman, AZ; Earl Joe Walker (Shirl) of Shawnee, KS; Phil Walker (Margaret) of Wichita, KS. Daughters: Loreta Ryan (Richard), Beth Llafet (Kent) and Margie Dunn all of Kansas City, MO., Marlene Edgington (Jim) of Wichita, KS. Three step-children Jim Tanner (Norma), Janet Mueller (Walter), Joan Blankenship and numerous step grandchildren.
25 Grandchildren, 46 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline, KS. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday May 23, 2012 at 7:00 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Moline. Memorials are suggested to either: St. Mary's Altar Society or the Moline Friendship & Meals and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
