Patricia Jane Fox's Obituary
Patricia “Patty” Jane Riegle Fox passed away on June 8, 2014 in Chanute, Kansas. She was born December 29, 1926 in Independence, Kansas to Marian Edith McFarland and Ellis Warren Riegle.
She attended elementary school in Independence. The family moved to Chanute where she attended Royster Junior High School. They then moved to El Dorado, Kansas where Patty graduated from high school in 1944. The family moved back to Chanute where she attended Chanute Junior College and then she also attended the University of Kansas where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. On June 20, 1948 she married Herbert Fox at the First United Methodist Church in Chanute. She worked at Calvert’s Department Store, for the City of Chanute as secretary in the Electric Department, helped in the candy house at Self Service Grocery, was a Welcome Wagon Lady, and retired after working 14 years at Neosho County Community College in the financial aid department. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chanute for over 65 years where she had been a Sunday school teacher, sponsored the MYF, a member of the Memorial Committee, the Ministry of Caring, and Today’s Concerns Link. She has also been a member of Holly Mother’s Club and was a Brownie Girl Scout leader. She and Herb enjoyed trips to Branson, Missouri, where she especially like the Shoji Tabuchi show. She enjoyed shopping, having coffee with her friends, and loved her dog, Brandi. Her favorite color has always been pink.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jones, son-in-law Hal Jones, grandson Dr. Ryan Jones, D.C. and wife Tannah, all of Chanute; and brothers Robert Riegle of Wichita, Kansas; Jack Riegle and his wife Ines of Lawrence, Kansas; and sister in law Bitsy Riegle Gulbenk.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ellis and Marian and brother Warren Riegle.
Funeral Services will be Monday, June 16, at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church in Chanute, KS. Interment to follow at Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
The family will receive visitors Sunday, June 15, from 6-8 pm, at the Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel in Chanute, Kansas.
Family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church in Chanute and they may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
