Patricia "Patty" J. Nelson's Obituary
Patricia (Patty)Jeanne Nelson, age 57, a resident of Howard, Kansas passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas. She was born on July 25, 1954 in Osage City, Kansas the daughter of Cleo and Barbara (Hudson) Grimmett. She was a graduate of Americus High School and attended Emporia State University for two years and Flint Hills Technical College for two years.
Patty worked in Emporia for Dolly Madison and also worked as a LPN at Emporia Rehab and later at Howard Twilight Manor. On June 27, 1994 Patty married Vincent Nelson in Emporia, Kansas. Patty was an avid football fan and was known as a “Mat Mom†while her sons wrestled in high school. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting afghan blankets and throws for her family and friends.
Patty is survived by her husband Vincent of the home, her father and step-mother Cleo and Anna Grimmett of Emporia, Kansas, two sons; Bassem Salaymeh of Katy, Texas and Tim Salaymeh of Howard, Kansas, one step daughter Tushaun Portenier of Washington, Kansas, three step-sons Jeremy Nelson of San Francisco, California, Richard Nelson of Riverside, California and Michael Nelson of San Diego, California, one sister Shirley Williams of Salina, Kansas and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Cresco Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to the St. Jude Children's Hospital and may be left with the funeral home.
