Patsy Thriese VanSickle's Obituary
Patsy Thriese VanSickle, 90, formerly of Howard, Kansas, passed away November 6, 2016, at Brookside Assisted Living in Overbrook, Kansas. She was born in Edna, Kansas, September 22, 1926, to Lloyd and Pansy (Murphy) Fahler. She graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1944. Patsy married Ardell VanSickle on July 3, 1949, in Coffeyville, Kansas. They traveled for his job as a welder for several years before moving to Howard, Kansas where they raised their family. She worked for Elk County Abstract for several years before serving as the City Clerk of Howard until her retirement in 1991.
Patsy was a member of the First Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge, American legion Auxillary, and P.E.O. Chapter R. along with the Royal Neighbors of America.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ardell on July 3, 1976, her parents and son-in-law, Larry Evinger. She is survived by her three children, Suzanne Evinger (John Warhurst) of Baldwin City, KS, David VanSickle (Delilah Smith) of Finley, OK, and Timothy VanSickle (Linnae) of Topeka, KS and two sisters, Carol Weakley of Howard and Roberta Long of Moab, UT, as well as two grandsons, Matthew and Ethan VanSickle.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 10, 2016, at Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington St., Howard, KS. Burial will take place at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Howard or the American Legion Auxiliary.
