Perry"Bear" Golden North Jr.'s Obituary
Perry “Bear” Golden North Jr., 70 passed away at Diversicare of Chanute on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Bear was welcomed into this world to Perry and Cecil (Brown) North on July 24, 1955 in Fredonia, Kansas. Bear graduated from Madison High School in 1973. In 2004 he married Vicky Dempsey in Chanute. The two were married 21 years before her passing on December 27, 2021. Bear was a master electrician his entire life working at numerous companies. During his free time, Bear loved to sit down and relax and watch an old western movie or to root on is favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhart Sr., he never missed a race. He also loved to spend time outside, hunting and fishing. Bear loved the time he got to spend on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, touring all over admiring the splendid beauty that mother nature had to offer.
He is preceded in death by his dear wife Vicky, his parents, Perry North Sr, and Cecil North, and siblings, John Stowell, Nellie Hamilton, Ann Berkefeldt, Betty Wood, Nancy Benard, and Patricia Vance, and former partner, Colleen Mackey.
His memory will live on with his brother, Jim Stowell and wife, Jeannine of Pittsburg, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Countryside Funeral Home in Chanute, Kansas on Friday, February 13, 2026, with the family greeting friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in Bear’s name to St. Jude, and can be left with the funeral home.
