Philip Dean Mathew's Obituary
Philip Dean Mathew, 67, of Chanute, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
Philip was born in Thayer, Kansas on May 28, 1946, the son of Wilbur R. and Helen Lucille (Howell) Mathew.
He served his country in the United States Navy.
Philip was united in marriage to Donna L. Jerome on February 6, 1971 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute. She survives of the home.
Philip worked as a Warehouse Supervisor for Fleming Foods for twenty-five years until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Elks. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Along with his wife Donna, he is survived by two sons, Philip Dean Mathew II of Lawrence, KS, William Mathew and his wife Brittony McNaughton of Denton, TX, a granddaughter, Elliette Pearl Mathew; a brother, Leroy Mathew and his wife Jarie of Chanute; and a sister, Teri Wolfe and her husband Jay of Carbondale, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sherry and Clarence Matlock of Chanute, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lynn Mathew.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Friday, February 7, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Church.
Memorials in his name may be made to Castaways Animal Shelter or the Leukemia Society and may be left with the funeral home.
