Philip Wayne Umbarger's Obituary
Philip Wayne Umbarger, 62, passed away on July 16, 2018 in Grove, OK. He was born June 25, 1956 in Chanute, Kansas to Gerald Umbarger and Eleanor Fairchild. Philip married Lisa (Morris) Umbarger in Chanute, KS on October 1, 2011. She survives at their home.
Philip was a loving husband, dad, brother, and son who had a great sense of humor. He proudly carried on the family farming tradition at Umbarger Farms in rural Chanute, KS, where he was very well respected among the farming community and known for going out of his way to help others. In addition to being a father to his children, he was viewed as a father figure to many. Philip’s favorite past times were hunting, fishing, and boating on Grand Lake. He was a board member of Turkey Creek Watershed, and previously served on the boards for Canville Township and Water District #6. Philip cherished the time he spent with his family and dear friends above all else, and will be missed by those who knew him.

Philip was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Umbarger; and brother-in-law, Lamar Whitson, Jr.
Cremation has been requested. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home – Johnson Chapel in Chanute, KS. Inurnment will take place at a later date on the farm. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
