Phillis Ann Busby's Obituary
Phillis Ann Busby, 84 passed away at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
Phillis was born the eldest child of James and Leona (Stamps) Davis on February 2, 1942 in Albany, Oregon. Through her childhood she moved back and forth from Oregon to Missouri. On November 1, 1958 she married William Joseph Busby Sr. in Springfield, Missouri. The two were married 49 years until his passing in June of 2008. In 1989, Phillis moved to Chanute and made her home. She was a longtime member of the Westview Southern Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and the Eastern Star.
Phillis was a friend to everyone she met. She loved to visit and joke with everyone. She was a talented artist and loved to draw. She will be remembered for her delicious pies, cinnamon rolls and chicken and noodles she made. Phillis’ favorite time of the years was the holidays the family got together at Fall River Lake and Elk City Lake camping.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Busby Sr., son, Donald Busby I, great grandson, Aaron Byers, brother, Clarence Davis, sister, Deloris Davis and her parents.
Phillis’ memory will carry on with her son, William Busby Jr, adopted son, Clif Lewis, siblings, DeEtta Davis, Sondra Davis, Richard Davis, and Joseph Davis, 3 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Westview Southern Baptist Church on Saturday, June 27th from 9:00am to 10:00am. A Celebration of Phillis’ life will follow at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made in Phillis’s name to the Westview Southern Baptist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home.
