Ralph E. "Gene" Debler's Obituary
Ralph Eugene “Gene” Debler, 79, of Chanute, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute.
Gene was born in Humboldt, Kansas on October 12, 1934, the son of Ralph Gilbert and Viola Elnora (Storck) Debler.
He served his country in the United States Army from May 2, 1957 until May 1, 1963.
Gene was united in marriage to Shirley Jean Crowder on October 15, 1955. She survives of the home.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Chanute, the American Legion Post #170, the McDonald Coffee Club and enjoyed gardening and growing tomatoes.He was an oilfield worker.
Along with his wife Shirley, he is survived by a son, Danny Debler of Chanute; a daughter, Cindy Culbertson of Iola; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Elaine Wolford of Humboldt and Virginia Hurt of Chanute.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Debler.
Funeral services will be held at 11: 00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in the Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery on 21st Street.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel in Chanute.
Memorials in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left with the funeral home.
