Raymond Eugene Leedy Sr.'s Obituary
Raymond Eugene Leedy Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on September 5, 2025, just days shy of his 76th birthday. Born on September 10, 1949, in Neodesha, Kansas, Ray was the cherished son of William E. Leedy and Delma (Honeywell) Leedy. Throughout his life, he embodied kindness, laughter, and a deep love for his family and community.
Ray graduated from Neodesha High School in 1967, where he demonstrated his athletic prowess through his participation in football. His passion for the sport continued as he attended Independence Community College on a football scholarship, ultimately earning an Associate's degree. After his time at ICC, he proudly served in the Kansas National Guard for two years, exemplifying his commitment to his country.
On February 17, 1972, Ray married the love of his life, Sharon Wilson, in a heartfelt ceremony at the Church of the Brethren in Independence, Kansas. Their union blossomed into a beautiful partnership filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home in Neodesha, Kansas, where they enjoyed life's journey side by side.
Ray dedicated many years to farming the family farm, a labor of love that connected him to the land and his roots. Later, he transitioned to construction work, where he continued to demonstrate his strong work ethic until his retirement. His commitment to hard work was matched only by his devotion to his family.
A kind soul with an infectious laugh, Ray was known for his warm spirit and the joy he brought to those around him. He found immense happiness in the simple pleasures of life—watching his beloved Kansas City Chiefs every Sunday, playing board and card games with family and friends, and enjoying lively BINGO nights. Above all, he cherished the time spent supporting his son and grandson, traveling across the state to cheer them on at their football games.
Ray leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is preceded in death by his dear wife, Sharon Leedy; his brother, Larry Leedy; and his devoted parents. He is survived by his son, Raymond Leedy Jr., and his wife, Debra, of Bartlesville, OK, as well as his grandson, Trey Leedy, also of Bartlesville, OK and granddaughter, Kristen Torrey of Bartlesville, OK, and 2 great grandchildren, Fox and Gus Torrey.
Raymond Eugene Leedy Sr. touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
