Regina Mary Kluin's Obituary
Regina Mary “Jean” Kluin, 84, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away on December 5, 2017 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. Private services for immediate family only.
Jean was born on March 17, 1933, in Wilke-Barre, PA, to William and Mary (Torbik) Bartish. She moved to Elizabeth, NJ as a child. Jean graduated from Batton High School in Elizabeth, NJ and graduated a 3 year registered nursing (RN) program from Elizabeth General Hospital. Jean married Fred J. Kluin on June 19, 1954. After several moves for career reasons to Skokie, IL, Ridgefield, Conn, Ann Arbor, MI & Scottsdale, AZ, Jean and Fred settled in Chanute in the early 1990s. Fred preceded her in death in 1995. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother & sister. She loved her family & they knew they could always count on her to be there for them.
Jean’s full-time job was taking care of her husband & three children but she was proud of her career in nursing. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and painting. Whatever state Jean lived in she made a warm & loving home. She did volunteer work & was involved in art groups. Following her move to Chanute she volunteered at the Chanute Art Gallery and the reading program at Hutton Elementary & was a member of the Chanute Art and Lit Club. Jean enjoyed visiting with people and talking about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean lived independently in her own home until a few months before her death. Sons: Kurt Kluin, & his wife Anne Kluin of Chanute, Kansas; Eric Kluin of Boston, Ma.
Daughter: Karen Kluin, & her husband, Douglas Gelb of Ann Arbor, MI.
Grandchildren: Robert Kluin, & his wife Lindsey Bishop Kluin of Lyons, Co.; P.J. Kluin, & her husband Adam Kiddoo of Chanute, Kansas; Elizabeth Gelb of Washington, DC; Molly Gelb of Boston, Ma.
Great-Grandchildren: Chloe Kluin & Daniel Kluin
Cousin: Ray Kaczmarek & his wife, Barbara.
Niece & Nephews: Susan Mellage, Edward Mellage & Greg Stock & his wife, Janice.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred; 2 brothers, 3 sisters & cherished aunt & uncle.
The family would like to recognize & give thanks to all the doctors, nurses & staff at Dr. Parham’s office and Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, as well as all the staff at Country Place Assisted Living in Chanute, KS.
Mom/Grandma Jean will be missed.
