Rex Leon Hedges' Obituary
Rex Leon Hedges, age 61, a resident of rural Grenola, Kansas passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on December 6, 1952 in Independence, Kansas the son of Max L. and Dollie (Hanningan) Hedges.
He received his Associates Degree in Agribusiness from Cowley County Community College. On December 19, 1980, Rex was united in marriage to Shirley Malone in Miami, Oklahoma. Rex enjoyed coon hunting, collecting guns, fishing, running traps and most of all spending time with his granddaughter Hannah.
Rex is survived by his wife Shirley Hedges of Grenola, his parents Max and Dollie Hedges of Elk City, Kansas, one son Josh Hedges and his wife Michelle of Grenola, one daughter Lacey Hedges of Overland Park, Kansas, two brothers, Jim Hedges and Max A. Hedges both of Elk City, Kansas, three sisters, Debbie Imhoff of Independence, Kansas; Jane Robles of Kingwood, Texas and Susan Ervin of Skiatook, Oklahoma and one granddaughter Hannah Hedges of Grenola.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas with Pastor Gary Boles officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery near Elk City. Friends may stop and sign the register from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countysidefh.com.
