Richard Lee Bevans Sr.'s Obituary
Richard Lee Bevans, Sr., age 73 of Chanute, KS, passed away on December 3, 2018 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 5, 1945 to Jess H. and Helen (Olberding) Bevans in Seneca, KS. Richard married Paula (Cavins) Bevans in Humboldt, KS on December 4, 1970 and she survives at their home.
Richard was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. His heart was as big as his personality and he never met a stranger. He played softball for many years but still managed to never miss any of his kids’ sporting events, and was very proud of all of their accomplishments. Richard had a passion for classic cars and often told of his 6,000-mile solo trip to California, taking Route 66 whenever possible, in his 1949 Dodge Panel. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and woodworking more recently. He and Paula loved to spend hours walking the shores of Big Hill Lake collecting fossils. Richard worked as a heavy equipment operator for a few local businesses. He will be missed dearly by his family, friends, coworkers, and numerous softball teammates.
