Richard Raymond Elder's Obituary
Richard Raymond Elder, age 77, of Humboldt, KS, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019 in Chanute, KS. Richard was born on July 1, 1942 in Oregon, MO the son of Eldon and Lela (Adams) Elder. Richard was the youngest of 6 children and was raised in Seneca, KS.
He was an Army SGT and served 2 years in Vietnam. Richard’s life long career was a professional union glass glazier in the Kansas City area local 558. His career was cut short by a stroke in 1995. Richard lost one of his greatest loves with his stroke, the ability to talk to everyone; he never met a stranger. Richard’s strong will helped him continue his love of going to the store every week to buy coke cola, cigars, candy and lottery tickets.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Lela Elder; brother, Lowell Elder and 2 nephews, Terry Tonne and Randy Nelson.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 1-1:45 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Humboldt, KS. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, KS. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family suggests memorials to be made to the Richard Elder Grandchildren Educational Fund and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
