Richard Lee Welch's Obituary
Richard Lee “Dick” Welch, age, 69 passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS, surrounded by his family. Richard was born the son of Nathaniel and Lena (Williams) Welch on July 3, 1944 in Chanute.
On March 21, 1963 Richard married Elizabeth Simpson at the Church of God in Chanute. Richard worked as a welder for Rolco for 20 years. He loved to fish, bowl, sing (especially anything country). He also liked to coon hunt and won a trophy for the most points with his dogs in a single year.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of the home, sons; Jeffrey Welch and wife Sherry of Thayer, KS, James Welch and wife Glenda of Thayer, KS, Gregory Welch and wife Bonnie of Humboldt, KS, daughters; Cindy Spencer and husband Larry of Chanute, KS, Tamara Leon and husband Paul of Buffalo, KS, brother; Nathan Welch Jr. and wife Janice of Chanute, KS, sisters; Joanna Welch of Chanute, KS, Rosemary Vallier of Chanute, KS, Barbara Fulton and husband Bill of Chanute, KS, Kay Dennis and husband Larry of Chanute, KS, Lola Stoll and husband Calvin of Chanute, KS and Pat Glasgow of Chanute, KS, and 14 grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Lena, brothers; Acey Welch and Stoney Welch and an infant sister Norma Jean Welch.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 2:00 p.m. at the Westview Baptist Church in Chanute, KS. Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery on 14th St. in Chanute, KS. Family suggests memorials be left to Parkview Holiness Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel.
