Robert Floyd Johnston's Obituary
Robert Floyd Johnston, 73, of Yates Center passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Stormont Vail in Topeka. Robert was born on March 10, 1949 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Robert George and Dorothy Mae (McQuiston) Johnston.
Robert grew up in Wichita and graduated from high school there. After graduating from high school, Robert joined the United States Army and served his country honorably for 2 years, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
After his discharge from the Army, Robert made his home in Yates Center. When he was not busy working as a heavy equipment operator in the quarry, Robert loved to hunt and fish as often as he could. Some of Robert’s other hobbies included spending time with his dog Porter, watching WWE wrestling, and watching hunting and fishing shows on television.
Family was incredibly important to Robert and he spent as much time with his grandchildren as he possibly could. Robert will always be remembered as a man that would do anything for anyone, he will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.
Robert is survived by his son Mason Johnston and his wife Lisa, five grandchildren: Whitney Johnston and her spouse Damian Splechter, Chris Jester and spouse Chelsea, Seth Snyder and spouse Reagan, Brittany Rodgers, and Kristen Snyder, seven great grandchildren: Mikale Jester, Skylar Snyder, David Snyder, Aaleiah Johnston, Ryker Splechter, Elanor Splechter, and Knox Snyder, and two sisters Nancy Stone and Mary Sue Jones.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife Gale Carmen Wilson, son Michael Lynn Johnston, parents Robert George Johnston and Dorothy Mae Johnston, and his brother Fredrick Johnston.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 2:30 pm at East Hill Cemetery in Erie, Kansas.
