Robert Lee Parker's Obituary
Robert Lee Parker, age 80, a resident of Howard, Kansas passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Howard Twilight Manor. He was born on April 23, 1932 in Elk County, Kansas the son of John Milton and Ruby Violet (Hemry) Parker. Robert was a graduate of Howard High School.
Robert served his county during the Korean War in the United States Army. He worked as supervisor for Boeing for many years and Dow Chemical in Denver, Colorado. Robert later owned and operated Parker Oil in Howard and then went on to work as maintenance supervisor for Howard Twilight Manor. He was a Boy Scout Assistant Leader, Howard Chamber of Commerce President, member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Roswell, New Mexico, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Church Deacon, member of the American Legion, graduate of Rhema Correspondence Bible School and helped organize and start the Flint Hills Assembly of God in Howard. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golf, gardening and farming while growing up in Elk County.
He is survived by his son Robert Michael Parker of Marysville, Washington, his daughter Shelley Deniston of Garden City, Kansas, step-daughter Nancy Peters of Wyoming, brother Daniel Milton Parker of Winfield, Kansas, sister Dorothy Mae Hunt of Canon City, Colorado, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Kenneth Parker and William Parker.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Countryside – Zimmerman Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery. Family suggests contributions be made to the Flint Hills Assembly of God Building Fund and may be left with the funeral home.
