Robert Eugene Ward's Obituary
Robert Eugene “Bob” Ward, age 72, of Fredonia, Kansas, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Fredonia Regional Hospital. Bob was born on June 20, 1940 in Thayer, Kansas to Elba Wesley Ward and Gladys Mae Fletcher Ward.
Bob’s early years were spent attending school in Thayer, Kansas. He later worked for Neosho County, and Wilson County Road and Bridge Department. In 1971 he married his first wife Mildred Irene Parker , who passed away in August of 1999.
On October 21, 2000, Bob married Robin Diane Houdashelt in Fredonia, Kansas where they continued to make their home. Bob enjoyed mowing yards, guitar playing, socializing, and art work. Bob was known around town as an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife Robin, sons; Keith Robert Ward and wife Cindy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, William Joe Bailey of San Antonio, Texas, daughters; Tammy Renae Ward and Tony Railsback of Sterling, Kansas, Phyllis Ann Whitcomb of Atchison, Kansas, Christine Lynn Garrison of San Antonio, Kansas, Francine Gwyen Rouse of San Antonio, Texas, brothers, Carl Ward of Iola, Kansas, Kenneth Ward of Canyon City, Colorado, George Ward of Lee Summit, Missouri, sister; Mary Cochran of Oswego, Kansas, 17 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that he loved as his own.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, first wife; Mildred Irene Ward, sister; Thelma Collins, and brother; Jess Ward.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 17, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia, Kansas with Pastor Ryan Akers officiating. Public visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the church. Interment will take place at the Thayer City Cemetery in Thayer, Kansas. Memorials have been suggested to Calvary Wesleyan Church, and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
