Rodney Wayne Smith's Obituary
Rodney Wayne “Rod” Smith, age 66, a resident of Moline, Kansas passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the St. Francis Harry Hynes Hospice Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on April 16, 1947 in El Dorado, Kansas the son Frank and Luella (Long) Smith.
Rod married Betty Lee Redd on September 20 1987 in Moline, Kansas. For many years he worked as an electrician and most recently Rod worked for the Elk County Road Maintenance Department. Rod was an avid flyer of the radio controlled aircraft. He enjoyed target shooting, fishing, watching his grandkids play sports and playing with his dog “Buddy”.
Rod is survived by his wife Betty Smith of Moline, Kansas, his mother Luella Smith of El Dorado, Kansas, two sons; Corey Smith of Campobello, South Carolina and Casey Smith of Severy, Kansas, one step-son Steve Terry of Tempe, Arizona, two step-daughters Judy Bloom of San Francisco, California and Sandra Trujillo of Phoenix, Arizona, one sister Marsha Baird of Potwin, Kansas, 5 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother Olin Smith.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Countryside – Zimmerman Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Robin Haines officiating. Family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Hospice and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside - Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.
