Roman Gabrial "Breeze" DeLaTorre's Obituary
Roman Gabrial “Breeze” DeLaTorre. age 71, of Chanute, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. Roman was born February 28, 1943 the son of Pablo and Lucia (Bonilla) DeLaTorre in Chanute, KS.
Roman graduated from Chanute High School in 1962. After high school Roman joined the United States Navy and served in Vietnam.
On June 9, 1977 he married Debbie Myers at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute, KS.
Roman enjoyed playing with his grandkids, shooting pool, coon hunting, golfing, playing softball and loved to cheer for the Raiders. Roman was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute and was a 4th Degree with the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Roman is survived by his wife; Debbie DeLaTorre of the home, son; Richard DeLaTorre and wife Tracy of Piqua, KS, daughters; Stephanie DeLaTorre and husband Rudy of Kansas City, Kelly Colter and husband David of Olympia, WA, sisters; Rachel Aguilar and Theresa Schultz both of Chanute, and a brothers; Ray Bonilla, Lou DeLaTorre, and Rudy DeLaTorre all of Chanute, and four grandkids; Terra Schommer, River DeLaTorre, Reyce DeLaTorre, and Rylan Colter and god-daughter Lia Gutierrez.
Roman was preceded in death by his parents; Pablo and Lucia, brothers; Manuel Lopez and Henry Lopez, and a sister; Esther Lira.
Rosary will be prayed Thursday, September 4, 2014 7:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 5, 2014, 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. Family suggests memorials to St. Patrick’s Catholic School and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
