Ronald William Carter's Obituary
Ronald William Carter, age 66, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at NMRMC in Chanute, KS. Ron was born November 1, 1948 to Merit and Edith (Leigh) Carter in Russell, KS.
After high school Ron went on to serve in the United States Army and Air Force from August 28, 1968 to July 10, 1976. After leaving the service, Ron worked as a Police Officer for several years. On May 7, 2009, Ron married Terry Marrs in Miami, Oklahoma.
Ron was a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed working on woodworking projects and riding horses. Ron loved the outdoors especially hiking and camping. Ron was a member of the New Life United Brethren in Christ Church of Chanute.
He is preceded in death by his father and granddad.
Survivors include his wife Terry, mother Edith, former wife Beverly Carter mother of Misty Coy,
Robert Carter, Richard Carter, step daughter: Glenda Hartwick, sister: Lana Carter, grandchildren: Blake, Autumn, Austin, Ryan, Aspen, Shayla, Shawn, Vanessa, Gabriel, Jazzy, step grandchildren: Levi, Brittani, Aaron, Brandi and several great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 5-7 p.m., at Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 17, 2015 at 2 p.m., at the Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel. The Chanute Honor Guard will be presenting military honors. Interment will take place Monday, April 20, 2015 at Cortez Cemetery in Cortez, Colorado. Family suggests memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project and may be left with the funeral home.
