Ruth Arlene Umbarger's Obituary
Ruth Arlene Umbarger, 94, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Chanute, KS. She was born to Samuel and Edith (Johnson) Clawson in Chanute on July 18, 1923 and had eleven siblings. Ruth was married to Chet Umbarger for 28 years and they later divorced. Her only child, Janice, was born from this union.
Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and worked in clothing retail for numerous years in Houston, TX before returning to Chanute in 1998 to be with her family. She loved all of her family on both the Clawson and Umbarger side and was aunt to numerous nieces and nephews that she adored. Her greatest love was her grandson, Robert Huval, who preceded her in death in 1994. Ruth was a true animal lover and especially loved cats, dogs, horses, chinchillas, goats, peacocks, and chickens. She was a member of Erie Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Robert Huval.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, KS at 1:00 p.m. Memorials have been suggested to help defray funeral expenses and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS. 66720.
