Sandra Lea Grogan's Obituary
Sandra Lea (Nicewaner) Grogan age 74 of Chanute, Kansas, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 24, 2014, surrounded by family. Sandra was born the daughter of Roy C. and Mamie E. (Smith) Nicewaner on September 12, 1939 in Kansas City, MO.
Sandy graduated from Chanute High School in 1957. After high school Sandy married Don Grogan Sr. and later divorced. Sandy then worked for Ash Grove Cement Company as a secretary for 20 years. She also owned and operated the Cat’s Meow Flea Market in Chanute. Sandy was baptized at Grant Avenue Baptist Church and was also a member of St. Cecelia Music Club. Sandy enjoyed going to auctions and loved to go antiquing.
Sandy is survived by her four sons; Don Grogan and wife Denna, Dan Grogan and wife Tami, David Grogan, and Darin Grogan and wife Michelle, grandchildren; Jessica Grogan, Katie Grogan, Robert Lopez, Ashley Lopez, Dustin Grogan, Tiffany Grogan, and Kacie Grogan, great grandchildren; Jacelyn Camren and Keara, Madisyn and Adalynn Lopez, and companion and best friend; her dog Georgie.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Mamie Nicewaner and brother; Gene Nicewaner.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 6-8 p.m., at Countryside Funeral Home-Johnson Chapel. A Graveside Memorial service will be Thursday, August 28, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at the Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, KS.
Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Family suggests memorials to the Cherry Street Youth Center or Castaways Animal Shelter and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
