Sharon Sue Higley-Ames' Obituary
Sharon Sue Higley-Ames, age 78 of Moline, KS, passed away at her home on October 31, 2024.
Sharon was born September 2, 1946 in Wichita, KS to Frank and Edna (Timmons) Higley. She grew up alongside her three brothers, Dwight, David and Jon in the Wichita area, graduating from Andover High School.
In 1968, Sharon married Ted Goode in St. John, KS. She saw his profile that he had submitted to a Teenage Christian magazine, and 6 months later, they were married. Ted was a farmer, and they moved to a farm near the Colorado/Kansas border for a while, before moving back to St. John. Together they had 3 children, Kevin, Angie, and Nanette, and were building their life together until Ted’s untimely death at the age of 50. Sharon then met Joe Ames, and they were married in Moline, KS in April of 2005. They spent the next 13 years together until Joe’s passing in 2018.
Over the years, Sharon worked at a shoe repair shop in Wichita, as a cook at St. John’s Hospital, and then at Walmart. She was a member of the Moline Christian Church, the Eastern Star, Ladies Bible class-CWF, and EHU Homemaker group.
She is survived by her children:
Angie (Les) Topliss of Moline, KS
Kevin (Charlotte) Goode of Pinon, AZ
Nanette (Mark) Mitchell of Springfield, MO
5 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild
Brother, Jon Higley
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ted Goode, and Joe Ames, brothers Dwight Higley and David Higley, infant daughter Janet Goode, and grandson Chance Topliss.
Cremation has been requested and the family will hold a memorial service to honor Sharon during their family reunion in the summer of 2025.
Memorial contributions in memory of Sharon can be made to Harry Hynes Hospice and may be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
