Sharon Lee Nichols' Obituary
Sharon Lee Nichols, age 83 of Wichita and formerly Longton, KS, passed away October 29, 2020 at the Kansas Masonic Home in Wichita, KS.
Sharon was born January 5, 1937 in Independence, KS to Clarence and Elizabeth (Brighton) Foster. She grew up in the country southeast of Longton alongside one brother, Richard. Sharon attended country schools when young, then attended and graduated from Longton High School in 1954.
On August 19, 1956, Sharon married Jimmie “Jim” Nichols in Longton, KS. They raised 4 children together, and were married 53 years, until he passed away in 2010. Most of their married life was spent in the Oak Valley area until she moved to Wichita in 2008 to be near Jim when his health wouldn’t let him stay on the farm. Later in life, she worked as a secretary for Union Gas in Independence, a Para Professional for the Elk Valley school and then secretary for Automotive Controls Company in Independence, but her career was being a wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, and brother Richard.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 10:30 am at the Longton United Methodist Church, Longton, KS
Interment will take place in the Longton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Sharon’s name can be made to the Longton United Methodist Church or the Good Shepherd Hospice and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
