Shawn Michael Ussery's Obituary
Shawn Michael Ussery, 52, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. Shawn was born on February 28, 1974 in Bay City Michigan to David Ussery and Kathy McMurray. Shawn spent his childhood in the Mapleton and Mound City area.
Shawn went to JayHawk Linn High School in Mound City, after graduation, Shawn served in the National Guard and attended Pittsburg State University.
Shawn married his wife, Kristi on November 23, 2013. Shawn and Kristi made their home in Chanute, Kansas, where they raised their three sons.
He is known for his love for flowers, gardening, grilling, and taking care of his animals. When traveling, Shawn and Kristi never drove the interstate, they enjoyed the adventure of taking the scenic route wherever they went. Shawn was also known by all as the biggest Michigan fan and never missed a game. His most prized possessions were his wife and kids. Go Michigan!
Shawn is survived by his loving wife, Kristi Ussery. His three sons, Kolby Ussery, AJ Bollig, and Danny Bollig. His siblings, Tim Ussery and wife, Dana, of Pittsburg, KS. Denise Ussery and husband, Tony, of Branson, MO. Davie Ussery of Branson, MO. Ashley Daigle and husband, Dave, of Grove OK. Lindsay McMurray and Alex, of Kansas City, MO. Along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday, June 24th at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church inside the Good News Center in Chanute, KS. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Central Park Pavilion Community Center at 101 S. Forest in Chanute from 3pm-8pm.
In honor of Shawn's love of Michigan, please wear Michigan Wolverine attire or navy blue and gold. Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home.
