Sheila Joy Dodds' Obituary
Sheila Joy (Bartel) Dodds, age 76, of Howard, KS passed away October 9, 2019 at her home surrounded by family.
Sheila was born January 18, 1943 in LaJunta, CO to Adolph and Ellen Fern (Weinbrenner) Bartel. At an early age, the family moved to Wichita, KS, where she attended school, graduating from West High School in 1961.
On March 28, 1965, Sheila married John Dodds. They spent 34 years together until his death in 1999. She worked for the City of Wichita as a secretary, retiring after 30 years.
Sheila loved to shoot guns, read romance novels, and spending time at home on the farm near Howard. She was a huge animal lover, especially dogs. She loved spending time with her family, and recently took a trip to Alaska with one of her grandchildren. Sheila didn’t attend a specific church, but her Christian faith was unmistakable.

Heather Weaver and husband Eric
Great-Grandchildren:
Jesse, Kolby, Lexi, and Gage
Brother: Lonnie Bartel of Cordes Lakes, AZ
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband John.
Cremation has been requested, and per Sheila’s wishes, no services are planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Sheila’s name to the Kansas Humane Society and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
