Sherman Lee Rutledge's Obituary
Sherman L. Rutledge 93 of Thayer, KS passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Neosho Memorial Hospital. Sherman was born on October 19, 1926 in Chanute, KS the son of Thomas Wilson and Mary Ruth (Miller) Rutledge.
Sherman joined the US Navy and served during WWII, where he received a Purple Heart medal. On November 8, 1947 Sherman married Naomi Nichelson, they were married for 58 years until her death of April 9, 2006. Sherman worked most of his life with and on heavy equipment.
Sherman was a member of the Thayer Christian Church, American Legion, VFW, and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed working with and raising his cattle, operating heavy equipment, welding and working on just about any kind of equipment. Most of all, Sherman enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

3 Grandchildren: Keli Stawisuck, Tiffani Miller and Matthew Rutledge and 8 Great Grandchildren
Sherman was preceded in death by his parents and wife Naomi.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Thayer Christian Church with Pastor Tyler Winn officiating. There will be no visitation prior to service time, burial will follow at the Thayer cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to the “Wounded Warriors Project” and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
