Shirley Waneta Toon's Obituary
Shirley Waneta Toon, age 88, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at Diversicare of Chanute. Shirley was born May 14, 1927 in Bronson, KS, the daughter of Ray L. and Winona A. (Goodno) Lamb.
Shirley grew up in Bronson, graduated from Bronson High School in 1946, and then attended one year at K.S.T.C. which is now Pittsburg State University. She married Russell Stewart in 1946 and they later divorced. On October 27, 1986 she married Jesse F. Toon. Shirley worked in several area hospitals including Chanute Hospital where she worked in the nursery.
Shirley is survived by her children; Kelly Stewart and wife Kathy of Chanute, KS., Sherry Johnson of Owasso, OK, Kathleen Strawder and husband David of Ottawa, KS, and sister; Wanda Braden of Missouri, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Ray and Winona, husband Jesse, and one granddaughter Kayla Michelle Stewart.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. also at Gibson Chapel.
Family suggests memorials to Faith Bible Church and may be sent in care of Countryside Funeral Home, 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS 66720.
