Shirley Elizabeth Vaughn's Obituary
Shirley Elizabeth Vaughn, 87, previously of 806 S. Rutter, Chanute, KS passed away Sunday, March 3, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, MO.
Shirley was born the daughter of Leon and Nina (McCullough) Lundblade, on May 17, 1926, in Concordia, KS. She married Donald S. Vaughn on Feb. 21, 1953, in Topeka.
Shirley enjoyed volunteering at the hospital, Chanute Library, and Chamber of Commerce. She played bridge “to win,” by Goren’s Rules and knitted children’s caps for Cherry Street in Chanute. Continuing that tradition, she knitted caps for patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce (Roger) Kirk, Kirkland, WA, and Margaret Vaughn, Kansas City, MO, and two granddaughters, Alison Trent and Janet Trent. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Memorials to Friends of Chanute Library, 111 N. Lincoln Ave., Chanute, KS, 66720, are suggested.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, March 7, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute. Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
